Leaves of Wisdom
Although we’ve danced around school for the last part of summer, I made a decision about when to hit the “real” schedule. I had these great intentions of starting school on the first day of August. Yep – I was going to jump in on a Wednesday, and get the ball rolling. Well, not so much. The lazy days of summer weren’t quite so lazy for us. (Who came up with that quote, anyway?) We’re so out of a routine that each new day is different from the last. My son asks me every morning, “Where are we going today, mom?” Ugh. It’s time to settle in and get this train moving in the right direction.
Motivation. That’s what I need here. So I went to an old journal and found this little gem: “All of the battles of life are either won or lost in the ‘secret place.’ In the ‘secret place’ today, we prepare for the battle we will have tomorrow.” Clint Thomas, Slow Burn, 9-30-11
Where is your secret place? My secret place is in my office, early in the morning with the door shut, and praise & worship up (but not so loud as to wake the boy). The Word of God tells us that we’re in a battle. I figure that I might as well be prepared for it. Right now, the battle is with myself, getting it together to walk this journey that God has called me to. This amazing journey. I get to teach my son at home, and watch the light bulbs go off in his mind, and share amazing moments and hard days and all the stuff of this life we’re living. And don’t you just love the smell of a new box of crayons?
Okay, I can do this. So can you, by the way. Ready or not, here we go!
